To keep things fresh for the children, and to keep them engaged, I rotate which special activities are available. For example, during outside time I may offer seed play, water play, bike riding, painting, or working in the veggie garden, in addition to the playground, swings, balls and toys that are always available. Here are some of our upcoming activities.
May 26 through the summer break
Students have brainstormed topics they are interested in learning more about, and have decided to focus on Pete the Cat books, Pigeon books, fairy tales and transportation. We will explore these topics together, while also enjoying many field trips to our Public Library's kids' programming (magicians, musicians, science shows, live plays - wow!), and fun summer projects like water play tables and sprinkler parties. Details coming soon!
We are working on increasing our technology time at school! We've gone from a single ipad classroom, to 2 ipads and a computer. In addition to playing learning games, we are practicing forming letters and our names correctly, and monitoring the weather each day with a weather app. We are very enthusiastic about using technology!
